The Traffic Management Implementation training course is aimed at those wishing to become an accredited Traffic Management Implementation officer on Queensland roads. It has been designed by the Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) to provide mandatory accreditation under the Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme.
The Traffic Management Implementation course is designed to teach people how to read, interpret, and implement traffic management plans, as well as provide them with the knowledge on how to set up and remove traffic signs and devices, while ensuring traffic flow is maintained and safety of the public is maximized, in accordance with procedures set out in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices Part 3 (MUTCD).
The course consists of two parts:
1. Traffic Management Implementation Course – Theory component
This is done face-to-face, in a “classroom” style setting and takes approximately 8 hours. There is an open book written assessment that evaluates the participant’s ability to read and interpret the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices Part 3 (MUTCD). On successful completion of the theory component, participants are issued with a Statement of Attendance.
Participants will be required to have sound numeracy and literacy skills in order to meet the assessment requirements.
2. Traffic Management Implementation Course – Practical component
The practical part of the course requires the candidate (after successful completion of the theory component), to implement 3 signage setups of varying complexity at different live job sites. Participants will be issued with third party verification report / signage set-up logs that will need to be signed a competent Traffic Management Implementation officer or Level 3 Traffic Management person. These setups must be completed in accordance with the MUTCD.
Successful participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a wallet sized Traffic Management Implementation I.D. card
